Chapter 7 test was today

After finishing: Go back to pg 146 and read through  examples 1 and 2 …. set notation. Take note of the open and close circles used in example 2.

Complete, pg. 148-149, CKI # 1,2 and CYU # 1-7 (we’ll clarify some of this tomorrow)

ALSO… look back to ALL homework assigned since Nov 16th. There will be a selection collected tomorrow in class.

Term Test is Tuesday next week (everything assessed up to now will be on it…set notation and solving inequalities will NOT be on the term test, but there will be an assignment (next week?) dealing with those two items).

Today was spent reviewing the skills from last week (see link below), including the area model presented on Friday. (pg.343-345 #6, 14, 20).

Math 8

Time to work through Part B of the discovery (properties of reflections). Summary notes presented. Monday we’ll finish the discovery (rotations) and look for similarities between all the transformations.

Report card marks will come from all assessments done on chapters 1,2 and 3 (we should be done with chapter 3 by the end of next week).

Returned assignment from Tuesday this week.

Review of Homework: pg 355, #4, 6-9, 11 and 12.

Socrative Task (quick quiz on this week’s material and a term test survey).

Practice with Area model (see text book for further examples, and more on Monday)

Work through all assigned work from chapter 7 (see below) and the practice test and chapter review. We’ll work through a sample test next week so there will be no surprises. Don’t forget to review for the term test…it’ll sneak up on you otherwise!

No class today, there was an assembly this morning during math class. Students should definitely be done the work assigned yesterday for tomorrow’s class.

Extra help will be held tomorrow since I was unavailable today.

Ch7. test on Tuesday next week and term test on Thursday next week (I know it’s a quick turnover, but the end of turn is essentially Thursday next week-no classes next Friday.) We’ll spend some time working through a sample test in both cases over the next few days.

No assigned homework; BUT you should be reviewing your notes regularly and even taking it upon yourself to look through the examples in the textbook from chapter 7. Today’s content came from 7.2 Common Factors…we’ll look at the area model before the weekend-it may help those still struggling with factoring.

If you’re looking ahead and wondering about section 7.5 Polynomial division, it’s part of what we did today…once finding the GCF we divided the expression by it to get the new terms…we’ll talk about that more tomorrow too.
